Directions to the Graduate Center
The Graduate Center is located in Midtown Manhattan, diagonally across from the Empire State Building at 34th St. and Fifth Ave. It is easily accessible with almost all subway lines. It is walking distance from Penn Station (Subway lines A,C,E,1,2,3) and Herald Square (Subway lines N,Q,R,W,B,D,F,V).

2nd Ave Deli: the landmark Jewish deli, just moved conveniently to 33rd near 3rd Ave
The Breslin: (in the Ace Hotel) 29th and Broadway, renowned gastropub by chef April Bloomfield
Bryant Park Grill: (behind NY Public Library) Madison between 40th and 42nd, excellent contemporary cuisine
Eataly: Italian food market/mall with multiple restaurants, groceries, coffee, gelato, and wine: 23rd and 5th Ave
Franchia: Zenlike Korean and vegan tea house, Park between 34th and 35th
Grace Street Coffee: on 32nd St between 5th and Broadway, spacious cafe with delicious desserts
Granduca: Italian restaurant on 35th just off 5th
Hagawi: vegetarian Korean in calm setting, 32nd between 5th and Madison
ilili Restaurant: elegant Lebanese restaurant with excellent small plates, 5th Ave between 27th and 28th
The John Dory (in the Ace Hotel) 29th and Broadway: extremely popular seafood place, also with chef April Bloomfield
Kati Roll: on 39th street between 5th and 6th avenues, delicious Indian wraps with both meat and vegetarian options
Koreatown on 32nd between 5th and Broadway, variety of inexpensive and authentic Korean food lining both sides of street
Mandoo: on 32nd St between 5th and Broadway, freshly made dumplings
Moonstruck on Madison: Madison at 38th, bright cheery diner with enormous portions
Open Kitchen: on 33rd between Park and Madison, buffet/deli-style lunch
Paris Baguette: on 32nd St between 5th and Broadway, French/Korean fusion bakery and coffee-shop with seating
Penelope: on Lexington between 30th and 29th, American breakfast and lunch
Tous Les Jours Bakery: on 32nd between 5th and Broadway
Sarges Deli: on 3rd Ave between 36th and 37th, not as famous as 2nd Ave Deli, but excellent sandwiches and rarely a wait (open 24 hours)
Stumptown Coffee: in the Ace Hotel, 29th and Broadway; cult following for Seattle cafe
Trademark Taste and Grind: (in Hotel Le Soleil) 36th between 5th and 6th Ave, Coffee shop and upscale, comfy New American restaurant
​There are many excellent Indian restaurants on Lexington Ave in the 20s.
Walking downtown about 10 blocks will put you in Chelsea, and if you keep going you will hit Union Square and the East Village, so if you are looking for more interesting restaurants, that’s the direction to head in.
